Obsolescence is the state of being which occurs when an object, service or practice is no longer wanted even though it may still be in good working order. Obsolescence frequently occurs because a replacement has become available that has more advantages than the inconvenience related to purchasing the update of the original. Obsolete refers to something that is already disused or discarded, or antiquated. Typically, obsolescence is preceded by a gradual decline in popularity.
Let’s talk about what is obsolete, what nobody wants, what is wrinkled and ready to be thrown away. Lets talk about Old Bags. Here are some examples of what you find by Googling ‘ Old Bags’:
Grumpy old bat who doesn’t do anything for anyone.
Plastic bags to be thrown away.
Our ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ behavior devours everything that is new and don’t see the use of the wrinkled ones, the trashy.
My questions are:
What is obsolete in art?
What would be an obsolete artist?
An artist that does not belong to the new art?
Not in a museum? (I need imput here).
What is obsolete in media?
Computers are obsolete almost the second they leave the factory, a newer model and software upgrades always following right behind.
